AFBE-UK meets with Business in the Community
AFBE-UK was invited by Business in the Community (BITC) to a meeting on the Friday, 26th September 2008 to discuss how we can work together. This is a welcome development and we hope that this will raise the profile of the association.
BITC is one of The Prince's Charities with more than 850 companies in membership, Business in the Community represents 1 in 5 of the UK private sector workforce and convenes a network of global partners.
We are currently in talks with this organisation to identify areas of mutual interest where our efforts can be combined. They require BAME role models to go to inner City schools to talk about their experiences and influence change. We have also been asked to be part of their ‘Seeing is Believing’ Program, which invites senior business leaders to address the role of business in tackling social issues in deprived inner cities and rural areas. .
Please visit the website at http://www.bitc.org.uk.
If this is of interest to you, please email info@afbe.org.uk for further information.
Reconnect Africa’s September issue and October issue

Amongst other things, there are two interesting articles, the first is on Women, Leadership and a Changing Africa, and the second is the Precious Awards in November celebrating the outstanding contributions that women of colour have made to UK plc in 2008 which are well worth reading.

BBC 2 has contacted AFBE-UK and is looking for people for the show Eggheads. If you are interested or you know someone who may be interested; please contact AFBE-UK at info@afbe.org.uk for details.
